2012 in review

Looks like 2012 was a good year… but ended on a slow note after little Miss Lachlyn was born. I hope to pick right back up in 2013 (a resolution!)

Here’s an excerpt:

4,329 films were submitted to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. This blog had 13,000 views in 2012. If each view were a film, this blog would power 3 Film Festivals

It’s been awhile…

I’ve been on a short hiatus and well… that’s because we welcomed our beautiful little girl into the world on August 26, 2012. Words can’t even describe how in love and happy and excited we are to have Lachlyn. She is so precious, tiny, sweet and adorable all rolled into one small package. It is hard to not just stare at her sweet face in awe.

Not to mention, my wonderful mother-in-law came for the birth and it was important to us to have her here. She truly is an amazing woman who gave us support, love and all the help we needed. We wish she could have stayed longer.

I could never forget this man… my husband. He was strong for me… helped me relax… and stood by my side through labor and delivery. Watching him with our girl makes my heart melt and I fall in love with him all over again. He is spectacular father and a breath-taking husband. Thank you for being my rock.

Weekend Thoughts

As husby is off on another work trip + it being the weekend, I start wondering what it is that I do with myself when I’m the only one home. More than anything else, the result is a lot of cleaning, organizing + thinking about baby. I feel like since husby is only home so often, there is nothing more I want to do when he is around than spend all my time with him. I mean, who wouldn’t?

I finished this cute little basic newborn hat (pattern here) on Friday night. I love the colors pooled in this variegated yarn (Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream in Violet Veil). I’ve found that every newborn hat I’ve knit or crocheted seems like it is going to be too big for a newborn’s head. Or maybe I’m just underestimating the size of a new baby head… I guess I’ll find out soon enough!

Husby is so good at shopping for the baby with me + he even ordered these lovely onsies all on his own:

Very cute + humorous. He is definitely going to be a great father + a protective one at that.

I spent this morning at the pool to soak up some vitamin D for our precious girl. I’ve determined that tanning your back is not easy with a baby bump. After attempting to lay on my stomach for ooooh say, 30 seconds, I realized it just can’t happen. As suggested by my lovely friend, Dawn (also expecting!), looks like I’ll be investing in some type of flotation device to lay on in the pool with my back up towards the sun. Otherwise I will be sporting a very nice half + half look.

On a side note, I love this video! I mean how adorable is an 8 year old girl singing her first metal song? I have our little girl may be attempting this in the future.

Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far!
