Finished Object ~ Fern Lace Cowl

Oh, hello there! Long time, no see. While hubby is away, time just gets away from me and seemingly this blog is always the one that falls to the wayside. Since he’s back, I was finally able to finish my Follow Your Arrow MKAL shawl (post to come later when mother nature decides to let the sun come out)!

Mug Cozy

In the meantime, I was able to knit up this mug cozy, which I was in love with… until I blocked it and then it was too big for my mug! It was a small skein of yarn to begin with and I didn’t want this soft squishy baby camel! yarn to just sit around unused. I decided to frog the cozy and make a cowl instead.

I went with the Fern Lace Cowl (please excuse the blurry photo, toddlers do not sit still). This was a really quick knit! The lace pattern is very easy to memorize and alternates with knit rows in the round. After blocking the lace really opened up and it turned out to be much more drapy than stiff.

The yarn I used is from Neeley’s Knits, who I have to give a huge shout out to! I met the shop owner, Ashley, on Ravelry through a group for mom’s of babies born in Aug 2012. She recently started dying her own yarns inspired by movies & tv shows. Her colorways are absolutely beautiful and we’ll just say, my bank account loves her! Please check out her shop and buy some yarn!

Follow Your Arrow MKAL – Finished Clue 2B!

Well, here I am… 4 days late to finishing, but it is finally done! I decided to go with Clue 2B because I love short rows and thought it was going to make an interesting shape. I’m really  happy with how it has turned out.

The yarn I decided on using, Holiday Yarns FlockSock Sock Yarn, I received in a Yarn Box subscription. I’m soo unfamiliar with sock yarns because I mainly use bulky yarns, but it is working up very springy and soft.

I’m excited to get started with Clue 3… I’m undecided on which option I will choose, but I suppose that is all part of the mystery! ;0)

Follow Your Arrow MKAL – Finished Clue 1B

I have to say, this is the most I’ve been dedicated to knitting on a deadline as ever! I finished clue 1B of the Follow Your Arrow MKAL by Ysolda last night… so a little late since clue 2 came out yesterday. I haven’t even had a chance to look at it yet, but I’m excited to keep going. At least I didn’t finish early then have to wait around for the next clue, right?

I love how the colors are turning out and the pattern is lovely soo far. This is my first time doing lace and doing a shawl, so pretty impressive!

I can’t wait to start clue 2 tonight! I’ll post progress pictures next week.

Ysolda Mystery Knit-a-Long Has Begun!

One of my many New Year’s resolutions for 2014 was to expand on my knitting. In all my years of knitting and crocheting I’ve stuck to fairly basic and small projects. The two larger projects I’ve done (a dress that turned out WAY too big and a knitted baby blanket) took me well over years to finish. So to me, smaller projects were the way to go because they were easy, quick and I could finish them in a timely manner and move on to the next project.

Well, not this year… and I’ve already begun. I ran across the Follow Your Arrow Mystery KAL by Ysolda and decided to give it a try. I’ve never knit a shawl before and I’ve never knit lace before. I mostly knit with bulky yarn on big needles, so this is quite the change for me.

I’ve cast on today and will post update pictures when I finish each clue!
